Japan coach Philippe Troussier has signed a contract with Fuji Television for "personal appearances" in 10 programs, which will net the Frenchman an estimated 30 million yen, informed sources revealed Wednesday.

The deal, unprecedented for a Japan national coach, has irked the five other Tokyo-based terrestrial television channels, who claim that it will limit their coverage of Troussier's off-duty activities. "It seems ethically questionable that a public figure like the coach of the national soccer team should make such a lucrative contract with one channel only," an official at a prominent station said.
