said Tuesday domestic applications over the Internet for tickets for the event to be cohosted with South Korea could start Thursday.
According to JAWOC officials, the Internet service provider of soccer's world governing body FIFA successfully completed checks for more glitches from Monday night through Tuesday but will run another series of tests before opening its site for applications on Thursday.
Last week FIFA said its database had "crashed," preventing fans in Japan and South Korea from applying online just one hour before tickets were due to go on sale at midnight Wednesday.
Meanwhile, JAWOC also said it had distributed 3 million extra postal ticket application forms to post offices and 2002 FIFA Korea-Japan World Cup official shops nationwide Tuesday.
