A squad of Yomiuri Giants minor leaguers and a team of South Korean professionals will play a memorial game March 11 for the South Korean student killed in a train accident last month trying to save a drunken man who had fallen from a station platform.
Officials of the Japan Series champions said Tuesday that the Yomiuri minor leaguers and the Hyundai Unicorns would play the game at the Tokyo Dome with collection boxes set up at the stadium for donations to the families of Lee Su Hyon and photographer Shiro Sekine.
Lee and Sekine were killed when they jumped onto the train tracks at Tokyo's Shin-Okubo Station on Jan. 27 in an effort to rescue a drunken Japanese man who had fallen onto the tracks.
Yomiuri officials also said the club would take up a collection at its preseason exhibition games at Miyazaki prefectural stadium on Feb. 27 and Feb. 28 for the victims of the massive earthquake that struck western India on Jan. 26.
