Japan youth forward Yoshito Okubo looks set to join Cerezo Osaka after choosing the club ahead of a number of J. League sides chasing the schoolboy's signature, sources close to the first division team said Sunday.
Okubo, who helped Japan's under-19 side finish runnerup at last month's Asian Youth Championship, scored 10 goals in six matches in this year's inter-high soccer tournament as Nagasaki's Kokumi high school won the annual summer event for the first time in seven years.
Okubo had reportedly attracted interest in half a dozen clubs.
