World champion Noriko Anno put her early-round exit at the Sydney Olympics behind her to win her sixth title at the Fukuoka international women's judo championships Saturday.

Anno beat Mizuho Matsuzaki in the 78-kg final at Fukuoka Kokusai Center, while Sydney Olympic silver medalist Driulis Gonzalez of Cuba ousted world champion Keiko Maeda and three-time defending champion Nami Kimoto on her way to the 63-kg crown.

In the 70-kg class, Cuba's Sibelis Veranes lived up to her title of Olympic gold medalist with a series of convincing victories, capped by an ippon win over Belguim's Ulla Werbrouck in the final.
