The Pacific League champion Daiei Hawks on Wednesday signed Koji Bonishi to a new contract worth an estimated 35 million yen, rewarding the catcher with a 17 million yen pay raise.

The 31-year-old Bonishi's solid play covering for the injured Kenji Jojima from midseason helped Daiei to its second straight PL pennant.

Meanwhile, Hiroshi Nagadomi, the oldest pitcher in Japanese professional baseball at 39, received a 17 million yen pay hike and inked a new deal with Daiei which will secure him an estimated annual salary of 42 million yen.
