Verdy Kawasaki appointed Yasutaro Matsuki, who guided the team to the J. League championship in 1993-94, as its new manager for next season, the Division One club announced Tuesday.
Verdy aims to make a restart with its old boys next season when the club moves its home to Tokyo Stadium in Chofu City, with the new name Tokyo Verdy 1969.
The club also appointed Jorge Yonashiro, Matsuki's old teammate at Yomiuri FC, Verdy's predecessor in the Japan Soccer League, as its reserve team manager and former Japan international and Verdy player Satoshi Tsunami as its youth team manager.
Matsuki, 43, signed a three-year contract which starts Feb. 1.
