Asian Games champion Kanako Yonekura demolished Kaori Mori in the women's singles final Sunday to win the national badminton title for the first time.
Yonekura, who represented Japan at the Sydney Olympics in September, lost just two points, winning 11-2, 11-0 in a one-sided match at Yoyogi national gymnasium annex in Tokyo.
"I didn't play well at the Olympics, so I wanted to do well here. I've always wanted this trophy -- now I want to break into the world's top 10 and play against the best," said Yonekura, who burst onto the scene by winning gold at the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games.
Meanwhile, Olympic member Keita Masuda overwhelmed Yosuke Nakanishi 15-3, 15-4 to win the men's title for the third straight year.
