OSAKA -- Omar Vizquel's RBI single broke a scoreless deadlock in the seventh inning and Mike Sweeney doubled home two runs in the next frame Wednesday as the visiting major leaguers beat the Japanese All-Stars 5-1 in Game 5 of their eight-game exhibition series.
Roberto Alomar hit a two-out double off side-armer Tetsuro Kawajiri of the Hanshin Tigers and scored on the tie-breaking hit by Cleveland teammate Vizquel, which was followed by another run-scoring single by Barry Bonds at the Osaka Dome.
Japan pulled one back on an RBI groundout by Yokohama BayStars infielder Tatsuhiko Kinjo in the bottom of the seventh before Sweeney's double off the Lotte Marines' Masahide Kobayashi highlighted a three-run eighth for the visitors.
