The Yokohama BayStars and Orix BlueWave have concluded a deal to swap infielders Tatsuya Shindo and Hirofumi Ogawa in a multi-player trade, officials of the two clubs said Thursday.
Yokohama, under the regime of new manager Masaaki Mori, also traded pitcher Hisashi Tokano and infielder Kiyoshi Arai for pitchers Yu Sugimoto and Kazuyuki Maeda from Orix, whose primary purpose was to beef up its infield defense.
Shindo joined the Taiyo Whales -- the predecessor to Yokohama -- in 1988 and won three straight Golden Gloves as the Yokohama third baseman through last year.
