Yakult Swallows pitcher Kenjiro Kawasaki met with officials of the Central League club Tuesday to discuss his plans to test the free-agent market this fall.

The veteran right-hander, who just wrapped up his 12th season with the Swallows, said he wanted a multiyear contract with incentives to stay with the club.

Kawasaki, 29, is reportedly seeking an estimated 700 million yen over three years.

"The amount I'm asking is not the amount anticipated by the club, but I don't think that it is an unthinkable figure," Kawasaki said. "The real talks get under way from today."

Players who qualify for free agency have until Nov. 8 to declare their intention to test the market.
