Seattle Mariners closer Kazuhiro Sasaki said he enjoyed his first year of pitching in the major leagues, but contends that Japanese baseball is still "interesting."
Sasaki, speaking to the Japan National Press Club on Friday, said the biggest difference he saw between baseball in the North American major leagues and Japanese "yakyu" was in scale.
The former Yokohama BayStars star noted differences in player power and strength between Japan and the major leagues, as well as differences in the sense of authority projected by umpires in the majors and fans' access to players.
