Masashi "Jumbo" Ozaki and Mitsuo Harada both shot 6-under-par 66s Thursday to share the lead after the first round of the 110 million yen Bridgestone Open golf tournament.

Ozaki, who has won an unprecedented 93 events on the Japanese pro circuit, carded two eagles, three birdies and a bogey while Harada double-bogeyed his opening hole before holing eight birdies at the Sodegaura Country Club in Chiba Prefecture.

Ozaki, seeking his second title of the season, got rolling on a bogey-free front nine with an eagle on the 517-yard second hole before rolling in birdies on the seventh and eighth holes at the 7,178-yard, par-72 Sodegaura course.

Ozaki added a bogey and birdie after the turn before chipping in an eagle on the 18th while Harada made up for his mishap with a flawless flow of birdies as he aims to win his first title since claiming the Tsuruya Open in 1997.

Taiwan's Lin Keng-chi, runnerup at last week's Japan Open, shot a 67 to stand in a three-way tie for second with Satoshi Higashi and amateur Yusaku Miyazato.
