Former Italy striker Roberto Baggio said on Tuesday he's eyeing a return to the national team for the 2002 World Cup.
"The decision of my joining Brescia and remaining in Italy is because I thought about the 2002 World Cup," Baggio said, implying that he'd have more chances to be named to the national team by playing in Italy rather than joining another club outside the country. Baggio moved to newly promoted Brescia from Italian powerhouse Inter Milan before this season. The 33-year-old revealed that he had an offer from a Japanese club while he was looking for a team in the offseason but decided not to take it.
"My initial goal at Brescia is to help them stay on in the Serie A. They have many young players who have less experience. That's something I can help with my own experience and I want to pour a new, good strength into them," Baggio said.
