Japan and Cuba signed an agreement Monday to promote sporting exchanges between the two countries that will include joint training camps between Japanese athletes and the Caribbean sports power.

The agreement was signed by the Japanese Olympic Committee President Yushiro Yagi and Jose Fernandez, president of the Cuban Olympic committee.

"Cuba is very strong in baseball, judo and volleyball and, in general, is very assertive in promoting sports.

I hope we (Japan) would a learn a thing or two from them," Yagi said.
