Bobby Rose went 3-for-4 and drove in five runs and Takuro Ishii had a four-hit night with two stolen bases Saturday as the Yokohama BayStars held off a late rally to overpower the Yomiuri Giants 12-9 at Yokohama Stadium. Rose hit an RBI double in a three-run first inning and connected for a two-run homer that made it 11-5 in the sixth, leading Yokohama's 18-hit offense -- six of them off Yomiuri starter Kazuhiro Hiramatsu (1-1), who allowed five runs in only one-plus innings.
Left-hander Hiroki Nomura (2-6) gave up three runs and seven hits in five innings, the runs coming on a three-run homer by Hideki Matsui. Rookie closer Atsushi Kizuka earned his 10th save.
The Giants' fifth loss in six games cut their Central League lead to 5 1/2 games over Chunichi.
