Eddy Diaz hit a three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning Wednesday as the Hiroshima Carp rallied to defeat the Yomiuri Giants 4-3 and hand the Central League leaders their third straight loss.
Diaz connected off closer Masumi Kuwata (5-7) for his third homer of the season after Hiroshima had struggled against veteran right-hander Masaki Saito, who allowed just one run and three hits in seven innings in his comeback from a calf injury.
Makoto Kito (2-2) picked up the win with one inning of scoreless relief and Ken Yamasaki worked the ninth for his third save.
