Nichidai Buzan pitcher Daisuke Kato scattered seven hits over the distance Monday to lead the Tokyo school to a 6-0 victory over Oita Prefecture's Nakatsu and into the third round of the 82nd National High School Baseball Tournament.

Yoshiyuki Kuwahara and Kazuki Onozaki each drove in two runs on two hits to send Nichidai Buzan, making its first ever appearance at Koshien Stadium, into the next round of the summer classic.

In Monday's second game Okinawa's Naha, another national championship debutante, won 2-1 over Gifu Prefecture's Chukyo Shogyo in extra innings.

Takeya Nagamine scored the winning run from second with two out in the top of the 11th inning on an infield hit by Noriyuki Nakada and a wild throw to first by the Chukyo Shogyo shortstop.

Tomonari Katayama blasted a homer in the second inning and had three RBIs as local favorite Ikuei from Hyogo Prefecture erupted for six runs in the sixth inning to come from behind for an 11-6 victory over Ishikawa Prefecture's Komatsu Kogyo.

Sendai Ikuei's Mitsutake Oba hit two homers and drove in four runs but it was not enough for the Miyagi school as Tokushima Shogyo rallied with six runs in the third inning and added four more in the eighth to win 11-6 in Monday's final game.
