Hsu Ming-chieh pitched a two-hitter and received home-run support from Kazuo Matsui and Tetsuya Kakiuchi on Friday as the Seibu Lions sank the Lotte Marines 3-0.
The victory helped Seibu keep pace 1 1/2 games behind Daiei in the Pacific League pennant race after the defending champion Hawks erupted for 11 runs in the sixth inning at the Osaka Dome to claim a 12-0 win over the Kintetsu Buffaloes.
At Seibu Dome, Hsu (4-4) went the distance on 108 pitches for the Lions, striking out eight while allowing only one walk for the win as Lotte runners failed to reach second base.
