American Dean Wilson closed with a 6-under-par 66 on Sunday to come from behind and claim his first tour title in Japan with a one-stroke triumph in the Aiful Cup golf tournament.

Wilson carded seven birdies against one bogey over the Ajigasawa Golf Club's 7,107-yard course layout for a 17-under-par total of 271, edging overnight leader Eiji Mizoguchi by a stroke.

Wilson, a 30-year-old native of Hawaii, has played on a handful of tours since turning pro in 1992.

Toru Taniguchi birdied the first three holes and the last five holes of the round on his way to a 65 to climb into third place with a 15-under 273.

Yasui cruises home

KITAHIROSHIMA, Hokkaido (Kyodo) Junko Yasui took advantage of her record-setting opening two rounds as the tour veteran cruised to her 13th career victory Sunday by winning the Toyo Suisan Ladies Hokkaido golf tournament.

Yasui, who built a record 10-shot lead after 36 holes, had a wobbly final-round 74 but it was enough to give her a comfortable four-stroke victory with a 12-under-par 204 total. Mineko Nasu carded a 4-under 68 on her way to second place.
