Seibu hurler Daisuke Matsuzaka carried a no-hitter into the ninth inning before settling for a two-hitter as the Lions beat the Nippon Ham Fighters 1-0 on Friday night at the Tokyo Dome.
Matsuzaka held the Fighters hitless through eight innings but gave up a single to Atsushi Kataoka leading off the ninth and then a double to Kazuteru Shimada.
The 19-year-old Seibu starter struck out six and walked five on the way to his fifth win, and first since May 27.
