Takayuki Shimizu connected for a two-run homer as the Central League-leading Yomiuri Giants scored seven runs in the seventh inning Wednesday en route to a 16-3 drubbing of the Chunichi Dragons.

Akiyoshi Sasaki, Yoshinobu Takahashi and Rin Ono also homered in the seventh and the Giants pounded out a league-high 21 hits to pick up their seventh straight win for a 2 1/2-game lead over Hiroshima in the CL standings.

Southpaw Darrell May (6-4), playing in his first game after serving a 10-day suspension for throwing at Hanshin batter Yutaka Wada, picked up the win after giving up only four hits over six scoreless innings at the Nagoya Dome.
