Southpaw Narciso Elvira, formerly of the Milwaukee Brewers, tossed a no-hitter while fanning nine batters Tuesday as the Kintetsu Buffaloes blanked the Central League-leading Seibu Lions 4-0.
Elvira (2-4), who becomes the second pitcher this season to toss a no-hitter in Japan and the 69th in the history of Japanese baseball, relied on a solid change-up while issuing only three walks at the Osaka Dome for his second win of the season.
"I started to think about it around the eighth inning. My control was a bit off in the early going but I was able to settle down as the game went on," said Elvira.
