The Japan Football Association decided to keep Japan manager Philippe Troussier until the end of October and have the Frenchman guide Japan at the Sydney Olympics in September and the Asian Cup in October, JFA president Shunichiro Okano announced Monday in Tokyo.
Whether to renew his contract after October through the 2002 World Cup, however, will be decided by October through talks with Troussier.
"On behalf of the JFA, I decided to keep manager Troussier until the end of October according to our option in the contract with him," Okano said in a press conference at the JFA headquarters.
