Hirofumi Miyase eagled the second hole of a playoff with Toru Taniguchi to snare the Mitsubishi Motors golf tournament Sunday, following a disastrous final-round 75 by overnight leader Frankie Minoza of the Philippines.

Miyase, getting a second crack at the 545-yard, par-5 18th in the playoff, reached the green in two -- while Taniguchi hit into a bunker -- and rolled in an eagle putt to claim the 20 million yen first prize at the Gamo Golf Club.

Earlier in regulation, Miyase also birdied the 18th to cap a bogey-free 69 over the 6,800-yard, par-71 course and tie Taniguchi at 8-under 276.

Taniguchi birdied four of the last six holes to equal the day's best score of 65.

Tseng hangs tough

ICHIHARA, Chiba Pref. (Kyodo) Overnight leader Tseng Hsiu-feng struggled to a 2-over-par 74 on Sunday, but it was just good enough to give the Taiwanese player a one-stroke victory over Aki Takamura at the 60 million yen Kosaido Ladies Golf Cup.
