The Japan Football Association will not renew the contract of national coach Philippe Troussier, informed sources said late Saturday.
JFA vice president Kunishige Kamamoto is said to be against offering Troussier a new deal, with Kashiwa Reysol manager Akira Nishino emerging as the favorite to fill the hot seat.
Kamamoto, reportedly backed by top JFA officials Kuniya Daini and Kozo Kinomoto, is to present a dossier on Troussier to the JFA development committee on Wednesday, after which he will make his report to JFA chief Shunichiro Okano.
However, sources said that the JFA has already decided not to extend Troussier's contract and will make a formal announcement at the May 25 executive meeting, which reportedly may be brought forward in order to bring the matter to a swift conclusion.
