Karrie Webb shot an unfashionable 1-over-par 73 in troublesome winds Sunday but still impressed the Japan LPGA field with her dominance in women's golf with a nine-stroke victory at the Nichirei Cup World Ladies tournament.
Webb, who pulled away from the field with a record third round of 64, posted her first victory in Japan with a tournament-record 12-under 276 at Tokyo Yomiuri Country Club and earned the winner's check of 10.8 million yen out of the 60 million yen purse.
The 25-year-old Australian, the runaway money leader on the U.S. LPGA Tour with four wins in her six tournaments this year, struggled to cope with blustery conditions and carded just one birdie against two bogeys on a day when only seven players broke par.
