Outfielder Itsuki Asai belted a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday to lift the Hiroshima Carp to a 9-5 "sayonara" victory over the Hanshin Tigers at Hiroshima Stadium.
Hanshin closer Kurt Miller committed a costly error to load the bases in the ninth and then gave up the tying run on a single by Tomoaki Kanemoto before Asai's game-winning blast into the right-field stands.
Hiroshima reliever Masato Kawano (1-1) picked up the win after coming on to retire the side in the ninth as the Carp snapped a six-game losing streak.
