YOKOHAMA -- The Yokohama F. Marinos overcame the loss of two defenders to red cards and ace striker Yoo Sang Chul to injury to triumph 4-1 over Gamba Osaka 4-1 Saturday in J. League Division One action at Yokohama International Stadium.
The Marinos moved into first place in the J. League, edging Jubilo Iwata by one point. Jubilo clipped Verdy Kawasaki 3-2 in extra time.
"I'm happy with our win but am feeling hurt," Yokohama boss Ossie Ardiles said. The Argentine boss was referring to Yoo, who was stretchered off the pitch after scoring two goals. "We've taken the league lead but paid a big price for it." Yoo injured a ligament in his right knee and may be out for two months. He will undergo a medical examination on Monday.
