Former Pacific League stars Kimiyasu Kudo and Satoru Komiyama dominated in their Central League debuts Tuesday as the Yomiuri Giants romped 8-2 over the Chunichi Dragons and the unbeaten Yokohama BayStars sank the Hiroshima Carp 4-1.

Kudo, the Pacific League MVP last season for the Daiei Hawks, scattered four hits over seven innings and struck out 13 in his debut for Yomiuri as the Giants thumped the defending CL champion Dragons at the Nagoya Dome.

Kudo (1-0) earned his first win since signing with Yomiuri as a free agent during the off-season while Kazuhiro Takeda (0-1) -- another Daiei defector in 1998 -- was tagged for seven runs on nine hits, including three homers, and took the loss for Chunichi.

BayStars 4, Carp 1

In Hiroshima, Komiyama (1-0), the PL's ERA leader for the Lotte Marines in 1997, allowed seven hits and struck out 11 over eight innings to pace the BayStars to their fourth straight win.

Bobby Rose broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single in the sixth and Tatsuya Shindo hit a two-run homer in the seventh for Yokohama.

Tigers 2, Swallows 0

At Jingu Stadium, second-year hurler Shinobu Fukuhara, getting his first pro start, threw a four-hitter over 7 1/3 innings and Hanshin picked up its first win of the season over host Yakult.
