The New York Mets finally broke their goose egg at the Big Egg.
After losses the two previous nights, first to the Yomiuri Giants in their final preseason game and then to the Chicago Cubs in their historic season opener at the Tokyo Dome, Benny Agbayani played the hero Thursday night with a pinch-hit tiebreaking grand slam home run in the top of the 11th inning to give the Mets a 5-1 victory over the Cubs.
The Mets and Cubs head back to the U.S. with 1-1 records Friday after Major League Baseball's first regular-season games ever held outside North America.
