J. League Division One debutant FC Tokyo kept the momentum from its season's opening victory and beat Avispa Fukuoka 2-0 at Tokyo's National Stadium on Saturday.
Brazilian forward Tuto set up the both goals for the home team in the second half. Tuto played a neat one-two with his counterpart Amaral just outside of the box before sending a pass to Yukihiko Sato. Sato, unguarded in the box, made an easy blast into the net in the 62nd minute.
Nine minutes later, Tuto headed down a long free kick from Sandro to Amaral, who cut into the box to fire a goal into the corner of the net.
Avispa hit the bar in the 18th minute on a shot from Yoshitaka Fujisaki. But the visitors didn't have many options, counterattacks or set pieces and were kept in check for most of the game.
Tokyo manager Kiyoshi Okuma said afterward, "These two consecutive wins will bring some confidence to us. But we'll be studied by our opponents soon. We'd like to take it a match at a time."
