Regarding the article titled "As outrage boils, anti-Abe posters are weapon of choice" in the July 20 edition, for several years Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said that he would remake Japan into a "normal" nation and also vowed to revise the Constitution.
What were the majority of Japanese who returned the LDP to power with a landslide victory in the Lower House thinking when they cast their votes? Like the Germans who voted for the Nazis, they must have known what they were going to get.
So, why is it that what appears to be a majority of Japanese are now taking to the streets in protest of the security bills? If they have any one to blame for the passage of the bills and the direction which this nation is seemingly heading, it is themselves.
They got what they asked for through free elections.
