The Abe administration and the Liberal Democratic Party have gone too far in their abuse of power. Here are some examples, all of which either took place or came to light recently:
• A departing Tokyo correspondent of the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung said that when he earlier wrote an article critical of the Abe administration, Japan's consul general in Frankfurt visited the newspaper's headquarters to protest and made an insulting statement to the effect that the writer was a paid agent for China.
History textbooks that have been screened by the education ministry were forced to emphasize that there is no commonly accepted theory on the number of Koreans massacred in the confusion following the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake.
