Gregory Clark neglects to mention in his Oct. 23 opinion piece, "The case for nuclear power," that the Fukushima No. 2 Nuclear Power Plant barely survived the earthquake.
According to the plant director, Fukushima No. 2 would have ended up like Fukushima No. 1 if the earthquake had struck in the night or during a weekend, when he did not have 2,000 workers immediately available on site to restore the connection to external power sources.
Fukushima No. 2 was heavily damaged by the earthquake and tsunami, and it will take years of repair work to make it operative again.
