Regarding the March 6 Kyodo article from Nagoya, "Travelers cancelling New Zealand tours": Christchurch is the gateway to the north island of New Zealand, and there are many wonderful alternative tourist attractions near Christchurch. Now, more than ever before, New Zealand needs those tourists to boost the economy, and to keep people employed.
More than that, I hope Christchurch will look at, and adopt, Japan's marvelous, efficient, speedy system of constructing earthquake-resilient buildings.
