In his March 8 letter, "Middle way to drug policy reform," Robert Sharpe claims that Switzerland's heroin maintenance program is a big success. In fact, it's a failure because the drug addicts regularly take other drugs.
Sharpe also argues that marijuana should be legalized. Since legalization, the Netherlands has become a center of organized crime. In a recent vote, the Swiss people said "no" to the legalization of marijuana. Swiss taxpayers are paying approximately $4 billion per year for drug addicts — a heavy price for a population of 7.5 million.
