The government has proposed various stimulus packages. But how about stimulating Japan's economy with an emphasis on making people's lives better?

For example: Run trains more frequently on especially crowded lines. Install potted greenery on uncompleted portions of street-widening projects. Install proper guardrails on rural roads instead of paving over rivers. Have day-care centers offer extended hours and care for children who are ill. Reduce medical co-payments for elderly patients, and expand support services for the elderly.

All of these moves would employ people and pump money into the economy, perhaps in better ways than just giving out small amounts of cash to individuals.
