On March 28, 2006, I maintained here that the proposal to fingerprint and photograph all visitors to Japan at the immigration entry point would lead to an even lengthier entry time. I was wrong! After using the new system for about 18 months -- with at least four entries through Narita -- I have found no problem at all. The process works better in Japan than in other countries with similar systems, and to my surprise, entry now takes less time than it did previously. Apologies all around, and I'll be back soon.
