In a few years, we hear that English will be taught in the third or fourth grade at elementary schools. The biggest problem, I think, is who will teach the foreign language. I hear now that, at most schools, homeroom teachers teach English. We know not all of them are good English speakers. As everyone says, phonetic guidance at the start will play a very important role in their studies in the future. So, at the university level, teachers who can teach English children as a foreign language will be educated as soon as possible.

I remember the most influential English conversation teacher for me, Dr. Toru Matsumoto, an NHK radio English conversation instructor for 23 years. According to Matsumoto, a child should begin to study English when a child meets or finds a teacher with proper pronunciation.
