Regarding the article "Bad public manners irk Bushido proponent": I am happy to see that somebody is taking up the cause for what should be obvious to people who enjoy the benefits of living in a civilized society yet do not contribute so much as common courtesy.
I applaud the efforts of Sokichi Sugimura in reminding us of the importance of proper public manners in society. These values must be taught to children from an early age throughout their educational lives on an equal footing with core academic subjects such as math and science. Such values are not only relevant for Japan, but for the rest of the world as well.
