It was nice to see in the Pakistani newspaper Dawn (May 7) the photo of a Japanese young lady, a member of the Follow the Women Foundation, visiting a refugee camp in Damascus, Syria. She was part of a group of 300 women from 26 countries who took part in the event in pursuit of their campaign for peace in the Middle East.
The Japanese government and people have been in the forefront of humanitarian work as opposed to some developed countries whose social work is tainted with an imperialistic agenda that aggravates rather than solves problems.
I would also like to thank the government of Japan for its technical and financial assistance, at a very low cost, to the government of Pakistan in connection with the revival, rehabilitation and expansion of the Karachi circular railway. When completed, the project will bring great relief to the commuters of Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan.
