Congratulations on the March 30 article "Secret film will show slaughter to the world". A key to success requires that Japanese people become more involved and active to spread the information at the local level and lobby at the higher level. Foreigners may not be able to bridge the cultural gap; distributing leaflets at Shibuya crossing, for example, will have limited impact.
The level of mercury should be a good starting argument to educate people in Taiji, Wakayama Prefecture, who surely do not live connected to the outside world. Yet, as long as the government does not forbid the sale of the dolphin meat, I doubt any significant progress can be reached soon.
(By the way, I live in Tokyo and have never seen dolphin meat. Would it be available in local shops only?)
At a higher level, Japan should also consider the cost to its image, particularly when it aims to acquire respectable recognition in diplomatic and other international events. Let's hope the film is sufficiently shown in Japan.
