Regarding the March 6 article "Warm reception may not await iPhone in Japan": The iPhone may be a big hit anyway. Why? Because the reasons cited in the article are based on logic, and consumer behavior in front of such a toy is anything but logical. If you consider the electronic music market, you could just as easily say there's no need to buy an MP3 when your handset can play music. Yet, look at how many iPods are sold. Even though a Blackberry lets you call and send mobile e-mails, people have a classic phone in their pocket.
Another plus for the iPhone is a touch screen that offers fun capabilities. This is not a telephone with Internet; this is Internet with a telephone. As such, a lot of new applications, and services will be designed for it, at the frontier of keitais and pasocon.
