In response to Kevin Rafferty's Dec. 24 article "Christmas Letter to Pope Benedict XVI," I would like to say the following:
Although it would be great to see the pope in Japan and to have him dialogue with the Japanese and learn their points of view, the tiny Catholic population here was hard pressed last time to afford such a great expense.
Nowadays the security price is even higher, and despite the influx of Brazilians with Japanese ancestry and other foreign Catholics, we simply cannot afford it again!
