Regarding Dominique Moisi's Dec. 29 article, "Barak Obama's American revolution": I liked this article so much that I decided to read all of Moisi's essays. I also registered to read The Japan Times (online); I figured that a newspaper with such smart writers may be worth reading as well.

Unlike Moisi, I live here and voted for President George W. Bush. Bush really blinded me; I thought he would be the leader he said he would. Vice President Dick Cheney has contributed enormously to this disastrous administration.

I have some reservations about Obama. I don't mind his inexperience -- I like the fact he is young and intelligent -- but my concern is that he won't be able to manage Wall Street greed and the "neocons." (The neocons, with their hidden agenda, always seem to find a way to be on top no matter what party gets in power.) I worry that the changes in health care won't take place, and that our foreign policy won't be able to accomplish the rebirth that Moisi so ably mentioned.

Right now, I feel the pain of immigration. Hispanics are being profiled and demonized as other immigrants were in the past. It is tough being Hispanic these days and it will get worse. There are a large number of Americans who are not doing well economically, and they blame the wrong guys -- illegals. They assume that illegals are taking their jobs and reducing salaries. The blame for that resides elsewhere. They should look at Wall Street and the high cost of health care. I pay $1,500 per month (in health insurance) for three people; this is too much.
