Regarding the Dec. 22 front-page article "Mob crackdown targets bosses, bidders": Is there any possible excuse for the National Police Agency and the Japanese government allowing terrorists with guns, swords and knives to freely roam the streets of Japan killing whomsoever they please? Surely, it is not a crackdown that is needed, but a total wipeout? How many decades has this farce continued?
These days Japanese can carry guns and kill people at random in sports centers or wherever, while members of the NPA carry guns and kill themselves, which is the same thing. Meanwhile, every non-Japanese visitor to Japan is considered a terrorist suspect and treated like a criminal. The real terrorists are already walking the streets and their sponsors are the authorities, all of whom are Japanese. The only things that come to mind when I think of the Japanese inability to see their own faults while prejudging non-Japanese as guilty until proven innocent are the Japanese words amae and amai -- spoiled and soft.
