In the Oct. 20 Kyodo article "Tokyo trader probed over procurement of U.S. night vision goggles," the Tokyo trading house was never mentioned by name. Yet, other parties -- none of whom were under suspicion of misconduct -- were named, including Japan's Defense Ministry and Northrop Grumman.

I wonder if declining to name the Tokyo trading house is a journalistic courtesy in Japan, or whether laws stipulate that companies under such an investigation should not be named. I feel that naming only the parties other than the Japanese trading house could give the impression that they are under suspicion of wrongdoing and not the trading house itself.
