I was very interested in Yuri Tomikawa's article. This summer I had a chance to see "The Annunciation" by Leonardo da Vinci at the National Art Museum in Ueno, Tokyo. On my way to and from the museum, I noticed a line of people near the place. Many years ago, in December, I remember that some volunteers were giving food to the homeless around there. Later I learned that they were church people from Adachi-ku.
I was so impressed with them that, at bonus time, I sent some money to the Christian organization, which had been identified in the newspaper. This time, maybe another organization is doing the same volunteer work.
In every society, a normal curve forms -- some rich, some poor and the rest considered normal or standard. Japan's economic recession has derived mainly from deregulation based on the U.S.-Japan Economic Structural Initiative (kouzoukyougi) taken by the government. The government must protect not only big business but also the small and middle level.
After Junichiro Koizumi became prime minister, many small businesses went bankrupt and more people killed themselves. Charity begins at home! Politicians must know this!
