ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan has decided against a knee-jerk reaction to India's test last month of the Agni missile, which has become another addition to the arms race in South Asia.
With both India and Pakistan armed with nuclear weapons, the threat to the region's security has intensified as large numbers of troops have amassed on the countries' common border following the Dec. 13 attack on Parliament in Delhi.
India has continued to demand that Pakistan crack down on what it describes as Pakistan-backed terrorists, as a precondition for returning its troops to a peacetime disposition. India also wants Pakistan to extradite up to 20 individuals that India says are based in Pakistan and responsible for carrying out terrorist attacks on Indian soil.
